Do you think its possible to avoid those people or are you always going to have to deal with them? I have applied to study at Durham because it looks like a beautiful area but im not sure if it would suit me as politics has gotten in the way of some of my friendships in the past due to silly stuff like racism.

It seems like the altitude hit you two but not crazy hard, is that right? The only time I've gotten altitude sickness was in Bogotá, Colombia and I just felt winded and a little low energy for the first three days. Nothing terrible, though. I want to go to Bolivia but I've also heard the "horror stories" you mentioned, and where I live is literally 8 meters elevation lol. Also, I'm curious how the tea made you feel and if it helped. Bundaberg soft drinks make some excellent products especially their ginger beer but Bundy is more famous for Bundaberg Rum (not the same company) which is a couple of kms down the road from where you were. Maybe towns like Bundaberg and lots of others just like them around Australia and NZ make you feel like you are stepping back into a world where everyone didnt seem to be in such a hurry but as an Aussie I hope that they never change. Guys enjoy your travels you should find van life interesting especially if you get away away from that east coast tourist circuit.
